     The Saint John Amateur Speed Skating Club is starting classes this Saturday, October 10th at the Gorman Arena….
What to do before you come Saturday:
  •  NEW THIS YEARAll skaters Groups 1-5 are required to register individually through the National speed skate organization “Speed Skate Canada” (SSC) Skaters require an SSC number and this is how they will get that number. Previous skaters will be assigned a new number as the old number no longer exists.Skaters are registering with SSC and SSNB (Speed Skate New Brunswick) at the same time. They need to do this for insurance reasons.                                  NOTE-Skaters competing cannot attend meets without this number. Link for the SSC registration.
  •  Get your Equipment-skaters must have it on to go on the ice. Parents on ice  must wear skates and helmets.
What to do when you come Saturday:
  • Come at least 30 minutes before class time to get your child ready and pay any fees.
  • Bring cash or cheques to pay fees. Fees must be paid for your child to go onto the ice.
  • If you are RENTING skates come AN HOUR before class time. Come upstairs for Equipment sales and rentals.
  • ​For Safety, please remain at the rink while your child is skating, or if this is not possible, leave another parent with instructions on how to reach you in case of emergency.

Many coaches and helpers are needed to make our programs run smoothly. If you are willing to help coach, to learn how to coach, or to be a coach’s helper, please talk to a Club Volunteer or you child’s coach​.

Equipment Rental Time

-Saturday, September 19 8:30-11:30 a.m. at Gorman Rink

-for equipment rentals and skinsuit fittings/orders. You may also pay registration at this time.

 Here is a great chance for any adults and teens 14 and up to get training in coaching our programs through Speed Skate Canada. The course will be right in the Quispamsis Q-Plex during our “Skate Into Summer” Camp. Whether you are a speed skater or a parent of one, here is a chance to give back to your Club and help grow the sport!

* 4 great days of skating and off ice training with super coaches will boost your skating abilities on speed skates whether it is your first time on them or your chosen sport.

Children in our Group 3 level are welcome and able to attend this camp. If your child is between 7-9 then we ask that a parent or guardian is present with them during the day. Children 7-9 from other skating groups please check with us through email that your child is ready for this level of training.
