Summer skating is over, and we have a bit of a break for the long weekend.
Sept 6, 13 and 27: Group 1 8:00-9:15 am, Group 2-3 9:15-10:15 am
Note: Sept 20 9:15-10:15 only due to a CWG training camp

Fall skating is optional and is for skaters who were in Groups 1-3 last season. (It isn’t suitable for those who are just starting group 3)

This is included for those who signed up for full off-season program, or is $60 for just the Fall sessions.

We skate at the Charles Gorman Rink, 80 University Avenue, Saint John. Lessons Start SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11th, 2014 and finish in March.

Schedule/Calendar: Schedule changes will be noted on the blog calendar. Ice Time may be cancelled or altered to accommodate special club activities and speedskating competitions. Ice time may be cancelled for Hockey tournaments and other community events.

Supervision: For Safety, please remain at the rink while your child is skating, or if this is not possible, leave another parent with instructions on how to reach you in case of emergency.

Communication: All communication is done by e-mail. Please check your inbox frequently.

Groups: Group placements are decided by the coaches based on factors including skater ability, physical development, maturity and number of skaters, not necessarily age.

Equipment: An “Equipment List” on our blog outlines what equipment is mandatory and what is recommended-note undersuit recommendations. Speed Skate rentals are available.

Volunteers: SJASSC is a Volunteer run organization with plenty of opportunities to pitch in: help with board pads at practice, help at events and competitions, be a  coaching assistant, learn how to be an official, join a committee…we welcome all offers and ideas!

Head Coaches: Learn to Skate – Sue Ellis Loparco, Director of Coaching – Ray Harris

We look forward to a great season of skating. Feel free to address any concerns to the Board of Directors or Coaches.

SJASSC specializes in Short Track Speedskating, but we encourage skaters to experience Long Track by skating on the Oval in Halifax when training and competitions take place there. The club has long track equipment for that as well.
