Saturday December 8th:

We recommend the kids are dressed and ready to skate for 12pm; however the practice will take place during the lunch break of the competition. There can sometimes be delays that prevent the lunch break from starting on time, please be patient with us as we try to get the practice started as quickly as possible. Feel free to come early or stay after the practice to watch the racing.
Group 1, 2 & 3 will be cancelled
Sunday December 9th:
Group 3, 4 & 5 practices are cancelled.
Congratulations to our SJASSC skaters who made the Canada Winter Games Team; Claire Oliver, Emily Kay & Sam Myers.
SJASSC will be hosting the Level 1 Officials Clinic the weekend of the Charles Gorman Meet. If you already volunteer at competitions or think you might in the future you should attend this course so that you can be recognized for your efforts. This is also a great introduction to all the different roles that go into making a meet run well. Parents in Groups 1, 2 & 3 should strongly consider attending. Members from other clubs are also welcome to attend.
What: Learn to Officiate (Level 1 Officials Clinic)
This is the base course to orient all officials so they may understand where they fit in, what is going on around them and how to develop further.
This course will discuss all positions (timing, lap counters, meet recorders ect), rules, race formats, tracks, governing structure and advancement, etc.
Who may attend: No previous officiating experience is required.
Previously level 1 clinic attendees may attend as a refresher.
Age 16 or older preferred, younger accepted with parents permission.
When: Friday night Dec 7, 2018 at 7pm
Where: King’s Country Room at the Hilton Hotel.
1 Market Square, Saint John, New Brunswick, E2L 4Z6.
Please confirm attendance by sending an email to: email@example.com
, so we can make sure we have room for everyone, advise of any changes, and can document attendance for official training records.
SJASSC would like to welcome all of its Alumni Skaters to come out for a skate Thursday December 20th.
Reconnect with old friends and enjoy some time on the ice.
Good luck to our athletics competing to make New Brunswick’s Canada Winter Game team this weekend at Harold Joyce Memorial Championship; Noah Buote, John Crawford, Benjamin Herbert, Emily Kay, Sam Myers, Claire Oliver, Eric Verschoor.
With so many of our skaters taking part in the Harold Joyce Invitational Speed Skating Competition this weekend in Fredericton, practices for Groups 1, 2 & 3 will be cancelled both Saturday and Sunday. Group 3 skaters who are not competing can practice with Group 4 this weekend.
Good luck to all our skaters competing this weekend!
Please use caution when travelling to practice this evening.
If it is not safe to drive in your area please stay home.
Practice will only be cancelled if the rinks are closed.
All groups have regular practice this coming Saturday.
