2009 SSC YOUTH LEADERSHIP SYMPOSIUM

February 13th – 15th, 2009

What is the Speed Skating Canada Youth Leadership Symposium?

The Speed Skating Canada Youth Leadership Symposium invites students from the ages of 16-19 years to participate in a leadership development conference that revolves around speed skating and the 2010 Olympics.  The program teaches leadership skills and values through an examination of Speed Skating Canada, the Olympic Movement and the values of both organizations.  Additionally, through group projects, delegates will better understand the concept of teamwork and communication.

Please be advised that the previously set deadline for the Fredericton (Harold Joyce) meet of Feb 21st is now Tuesday Feb 24th.
As of today the registration forms aren't yet available on the SSNB website, but when they do become available you can find them at the following link;    http://ssnb.homestead.com/skaters/meet_registrations.html .  This meet is a great developmental competition, meaning there is usually a bit more of a concentration on the younger, newer skater.  Skaters who have qualified for, and are attending, the Nationals will not be skating at this meet, as they will be at the Nationals Training Camp.
Remember when passing in your registration forms and fees that your cheques need to be made out to SJASSC.
Please ensure all info is completed on your registration forms.

Thanks for your co-operation!

GROUP 2, 3 and 4 skaters,

This is an invitation to the SJASSC In House Meet which is taking place
Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the Gorman Arena.
( the last Saturday in November)

All skaters from Groups 2, 3, and 4 please come to the Arena for 8:45am to get your equipment on as this Meet will take the place of regular skating practice. If your skater has a SSNB numbered helmet cover - please bring it.
This is a great opportunity for Group 2 to demonstrate their skills and an awesome way to introduce younger skaters in groups 3 and 4 to what a skating meet is all about!
Skaters will be divided according to skill level so if anyone is not planning on attending, I ask that you let me know - no later than Wednesday November 26, prodogeiko@yahoo.ca so that the program may be finalized. This will prevent any delays on Saturday.
We are always looking for parent volunteers to help with the many activities that are required. Please look at the Bulletin Board at the rink for information.

Upstairs we will have refreshments and snacks - so if each family could bring a nutritious snack donation ie fruit or vegetable trays / muffins / cheese & crackers, it would be greatly appreciated.
