The Saint John Amateur Speed Skating Club is excited to once again welcome all skaters to the Charles Gorman Meet on January 20th and 21st at TD Station in Saint John, NB.

MEET FORMAT

This will be an SSC sanctioned event that will adhere to the standards established by SSC with respect to the skating track, officiating, safety features, and other aspects involved in the event. This competition will be conducted according to the rules and regulations as defined by SSC.

The meet is open to all eligible skaters and will feature ability-based racing (i.e. mixed ages depending on speed) on the 85m, 100m and 111m tracks.

The racing will take place on the NHL sized ice surface at the TD Station Arena located at 99 Station Street in Saint John.

HOTEL

SJASSC has partnered with the Hilton Saint John  to offer a group  rate of $139 per night for a standard room with two queen beds. The indoor pedway lets you walk to TD station without going outside!

This special rate is only available until December 20th.

A reminder that the FUNdamentals meet is during our regular ice time on Saturday December 16th and there will be no regular lessons on that day.

This event is open to all skaters in groups 2,3,4,5 and 6,  based on the ability parameters listed below. Please note that this event is in lieu of lessons on Saturday December 16th and we encourage our members to participate in this very fun event. It is a great introduction to racing for our younger skaters! This event is open to skaters from other clubs in the province.

• First Race Start: 8:30am  
• Completion Time:12:30pm
• Registration Fee: $20.00 for your first skater, $10 for each additional skater in your family

• Format: 4 hr fun meet for younger skaters – for fun, untimed races. All skaters receive a ribbon board with placement ribbons for all races.

Ability parameters: Upper limit: 50 seconds or slower on 400m. Lower limit: able to skate 2 laps reasonably well.

*NOTE-CHILDREN WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE ICE WITHOUT ALL SAFETY EQUIPMENT FOR THEIR LEVEL OR THEIR PAYMENTS. (If you forget a piece of equipment, check to see if we have a loaner)
CODE OF CONDUCT:

Parents/Guardians are expected to be in the arena and be responsible for the behaviour of their children while they are attending any events. Skaters and Parents are expected to treat coaches, officials, volunteers and other skaters with respect, both on and off the ice.
